This release introduces Managed Content in Smarter Drafter Pro, giving subscribed firms our library of over 780 pre-built forms, precedents and court forms, maintained centrally and kept up to date automatically. What’s new:
Managed Content
Building and maintaining your own precedents takes time, and keeping court forms current never stops. Smarter Drafter maintains a library of over 800 pre-built forms, precedents and court forms across every major Australian practice area — but until now, it was only available in Smarter Drafter Essentials. Managed Content brings that library to Smarter Drafter Pro.
- Draft from day one: Subscribed firms can start drafting straight away, without automating a single precedent of their own. Managed forms sit in a new Managed Content folder in the Form Library, pinned below All Forms and tagged Managed.
- Work like your firm's own forms: Using your logo, icon, organisation, office and user profile details, and are also available through MCP, the public APIs and the iManage integration.
- Always up to date: Our content team maintains every form centrally. When a court form or precedent changes, the update reaches every subscribed firm automatically, with no manual syncing and no stale copies.
- Your firm controls forms to allow drafting: Admins choose which folders and forms from your subscribed packs are available. Enable or disable whole folders or individual forms, so drafters never see two versions of a document your firm already has, such as your own NDA or cost agreement.
Managed Content is available as a paid subscription. To add it to your plan, contact your Smarter Drafter contact.
Other updates:
- Live document preview:
- View change: the preview now stays on the page you're reading when it refreshes. If an update lands on a page you can't see, a View change button takes you to it, with up and down arrows to move between changes.
- Zoom controls: zoom from 50% to 200% using the new zoom menu, Ctrl + scroll or a trackpad pinch. Zoom to fit is the default. Available in the Form Library, builder Test and iManage.
- eSignature coded values are now highlighted in light purple.
- iManage end-of-submission page now shows each generated file as it's sent to iManage:
- Open each document directly in iManage.
- Download email outputs as .eml files to open in Outlook.
- Retry a file that failed to send to iManage, without regenerating it.
- A live progress state with elapsed time while files generate.
- The table of contents can now be resized when filling a form, sharing space with the live document preview.
- Start form: a new record type filter (multi-select) narrows results when searching for records to assign.
- Child forms now show in Build > Forms folders and can be searched in both the Folders and All forms views.
- Address field localisation for the United Kingdom: Suburb becomes Town or City, State or Province becomes County, and County is always optional.
- Builder Word add-in: the Name field's "Given Name" component is now "Given Names", making clear it includes first and middle names.
- Permanently deleting a form or section block from the Recycle Bin now keeps you in the Recycle Bin.
Bug fixes:
- Matter Record: read-only record values didn't refresh on an unsubmitted form.
- Matter Record: PMS data didn't populate correctly when combined with a local record.
- Field alias: the type-compatibility check was bypassed when an alias name was typed by hand in the Mapping tab.
- Time field didn't clear when the entered numbers were deleted.
- Calculated date fields using the Add or Duration functions failed to render at runtime.
- Form Build search couldn't find questions, fields or sections in imported section blocks.
- The logic editor was cut off when a field had an extremely long label.
- Start form: a typed submission name was replaced by the form name when the naming convention check returned late.
- Live document preview:
- Barcode fields weren't shown.
- The preview opened on the first highlighted page instead of page 1.
- A middle name from user or contact mapping was inserted even when the name field had middle name disabled.
- Partial answers, such as only address line 1, didn't trigger the highlight flash.
- Document tabs couldn't be changed using the keyboard shortcuts.
- The Preview button showed while loading intake and embed forms, where it isn't available.
- Missing spacing between the repeat icon and tab name for repeating templates.
