How to Run a Preview of Your Automated Template
Learn how to run a preview of your automated template in Smarter Drafter Pro.
Previewing your template lets you see how your automated document will look with sample data, without needing to submit a form. This is a fast way to check formatting, field placement, and conditional logic before uploading.
Instructions
Open the Word Add-In
- Open your document in Microsoft Word.
- Ensure the Smarter Drafter Word Add-In is open and the document is linked to a form.
Run the Preview
-
- Click the Options menu in the top-right of the Add-In.
- Select Preview Form.
- A pop-up will appear showing the form in fill mode, with example data.
- Review how the answers populate your document in real time.
TIP: The preview simulates a completed form submission and applies conditional logic and field values.
Make Any Adjustments
- Use this preview to spot:
- Formatting errors
- Spacing and layout issues
- Fields that don’t display as expected
- Close the preview and return to the Add-In tabs to insert, adjust, or remove fields.
Tips for Use
- Use the preview regularly as you build your template—it’s faster than running a full submission.
- Note: This is a visual preview only. It won’t save any data or generate a real document.
