How to Review a Generated Document from a Submission

Learn how to review a generated document from a submission in Smarter Drafter Pro.

Once a user completes a form, Smarter Drafter automatically generates the final document based on your template. This guide shows you how to access and review that document to ensure the automation worked as expected.

Instructions

Go to the Submissions Tab

  1. Log in to Smarter Drafter.
  2. Navigate to the relevant form.
  3. Click on the Submissions tab.
  4. Locate the submission you want to review.
    • Use filters or search by date, user, or matter reference if needed.

Open the Document

  1. Click on the submission row to open the details panel.
  2. Look for the Generated Documents section.
  3. Click the document name to download, open in Word, or preview in browser (depending on your setup).

Review the Output

Check the following:

  • Were all fields populated correctly?
  • Did conditional content appear as expected?
  • Is spacing and formatting preserved?
  • Are any unexpected gaps or placeholders still visible?

Troubleshoot Issues (If Any)

If the document is incorrect:

  • Check whether the form was filled out correctly.
  • Revisit the template in Word to verify content controls and conditional logic.
  • Use the Testing tab in the Add-In to spot missing or unused fields.

Tips for Use

  • Reviewing real submissions is helpful when refining templates—especially for complex logic or conditional scenarios.
  • You can generate multiple versions of a document by resubmitting or duplicating a form entry.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: A field is blank in the document.
  • Solution: Check whether the corresponding field was completed in the form. Then confirm the correct field was inserted into the template.
  • Issue: The formatting is broken.
  • Solution: Return to the Word template and verify paragraph marks and Design Mode were used correctly during setup.
