How to Use Repeatable Sections

Learn how to use repeatable sections in Smarter Drafter Pro.

Repeatable sections let users enter multiple instances of the same group of questions—ideal for scenarios like listing children, properties, or other repeatable details. This guide explains how to enable and configure a repeatable section in your form.

Instructions

  1. Open your form in the Form Builder.
  2. Navigate to the section you want to make repeatable.
  3. Click on the section header to open its properties panel.
  4. Tick the checkbox labelled Repeatable.
  5. Add the Minimum and Maximum number of repetitions.
  6. Save the section.

TIP: Once enabled, form fillers will see an Add Another button underneath the repeatable section when completing the form. Clicking this creates another instance of that section for them to fill out.

Once a section has been designated as repeatable, a pink tag with the repeat icon will show on that section. Clicking it will open the properties panel for that section to adjust or turn off the repeats.

TIP: Use clear section headings like Child or Property to help users understand what they’re adding. Each repeated instance will follow the same structure.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: The repeated sections aren’t showing in the final document.
  • Solution: Check that the Word template supports repeating content. You may need to adjust your template settings or use the repeat functionality in the Word add-in.
  • Issue: I can't reference fields from repeatable sections elsewhere in the form.
  • Solution: Fields inside repeatable sections are unique to each instance. You can reference them using the Word add-in but not from other sections within the form itself.
