How to Add Name, Email, Phone, and Address Fields

Learn how to add name, email, phone, and address fields in Smarter Drafter Pro.

Personal details like name, email, phone number, and address are common in most forms. Using the dedicated field types for these inputs ensures proper formatting, validation, and compatibility with features like autofill and contact mapping. This guide shows you how to add and configure each one.

Instructions

Add a Name Field

  1. In the Form Builder, click Add Field.
  2. Select Name from the field type list.
  3. Enter your question label (e.g., “Client’s Name”).
  4. Click Save.

NOTE: The name field automatically separates input into first, middle, given, and last names.

Add an Email Field

  1. Click Add Field, then select Email.
  2. Enter your question label.
  3. Click Save.

NOTE: The email field validates that the input is correctly formatted (e.g., includes “@”).

Add a Phone Field

  1. Click Add Field, then select Phone.
  2. Add your question label.
  3. Click Save.

NOTE: Phone fields limit entry to valid characters (e.g., numbers and plus signs) to ensure clean data

Add an Address Field

  1. Click Add Field, then select Address.
  2. Enter your question label.
  3. Click Save.

NOTE: Address fields use Google Maps to verify validity and automatically separate responses into components like street, suburb, state, postcode, and country.

Tips for Use

  • These fields are optimised for integration with contact or user mapping features.
  • You can apply default values—useful if certain details (like country) are usually the same.
  • Be mindful of case formatting settings (e.g., for names) to avoid incorrect styling like “Mcdonald”.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: Autofill isn’t working.
  • Solution: Make sure contact mapping is enabled and the field type is correctly set (e.g., don’t use a generic text field for an email address).
  • Issue: Address isn’t validating.
  • Solution: Check for typos and ensure Google Maps integration is active.
