How to Add Multiple Choice Fields (Radio, Checkbox, and Drop-down)

Learn how to add multiple choice fields in Smarter Drafter Pro.

Multiple choice fields let form fillers select from a set of predefined options. Depending on your needs, you can allow single or multiple selections using radio buttons, checkboxes, or a drop-down list. This guide explains when to use each type and how to set them up.

Instructions

Add a Radio Button Field (Single Selection)

  1. Open your form in the Form Builder.
  2. Click Add Field in the desired section.
  3. Select Radio Buttons from the field type list.
  4. Add your question label and enter your list of options.
  5. (Optional) Enable logic rules for specific options if required.
  6. Click Save.

NOTE: Use radio buttons when the filler should choose only one option from a short list.

Add a Checkbox Field (Multiple Selection)

  1. Click Add Field, then choose Checkboxes.
  2. Enter your question label and the available options.
  3. (Optional) Set default selections after saving the field.
  4. Click Save.

NOTE: Use checkboxes when the filler can select multiple answers.

Add a Select Field (Drop-down Menu)

  1. Click Add Field, then select Select.
  2. Add your question label and the list of options.
  3. (Optional) Apply logic to show or hide specific choices.
  4. Click Save.

NOTE: Use a drop-down list when you have many options or longer labels, or if you want to save space in the form.

Tips for Use

  • Use radio fields for exclusive choices like “Yes” or “No.”
  • Use checkboxes when more than one answer may apply.
  • Use select fields when you want a cleaner form layout for long lists.
  • You can also apply default selections to guide users.
