How to Create a Repeating Section in a Form

Learn how to create a repeating section in a form in Smarter Drafter Pro.

A Repeating Section allows you to capture multiple entries for the same type of data within a form, such as entering details for multiple children, employees, or products. This guide walks you through creating a Repeating Section in your form.

Instructions

1. Open the Form Editor

  • Navigate to the form where you want to add the Repeating Section. Click on Forms in the main menu, then select the form to edit.

2. Create a New Section

  • In the form editor, click on Add Section to create a new section within the form.

3. Enable Repeating Functionality

  • In the section properties, tick the Repeatable checkbox to enable the repeating functionality for this section.

4. Set Repetition Rules

  • Set the Minimum Repetitions to specify how many instances must be entered (at least 1).
  • Set the Maximum Repetitions to limit how many instances can be entered (up to 99). Consider your document's requirements before setting these values.
  • Note: When setting maximum/minimum limits, consider the specific requirements of the document and whether legitimate limits should be enforced. Otherwise, set realistic limits or allow the full range of 1-99.

5. Optional: Separate Pages for Each Repeat

  • If you want each repeat to appear on a separate page, tick the New Page checkbox. Otherwise, the repeats will be listed on a single page.

6. Save the Section

  • Once you’ve configured your Repeating Section, click Save to apply the changes. The section will now appear with “Repeatable” in the section banner, indicating that it is repeatable.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: Repeating Section is not saving.
  • Solution: Ensure that you’ve ticked the Repeatable checkbox and set both the minimum and maximum repetitions.
