Parent and Child Forms

A child form is a type of smart online form based on another form, called the parent form. Child forms are used to create a copy of another form (their parent) with minor adjustments, such as hiding specific fields.

Overview

The "Parent / Child Forms" guide explains how to create, manage, and interact with child forms in Smarter Drafter. Child forms inherit content from a parent form, allowing minor adjustments without duplicating the form structure, making it easy to manage similar forms across jurisdictions or audiences.

Learning Outcomes

By using this guide, you will learn how to:

  • Create a child form from an existing parent form using the Related Forms feature.
  • Understand the inherited relationship between parent and child forms.
  • Make permitted edits in child forms, including hiding sections and updating labels.
  • Maintain and publish updates from the parent form that flow automatically to all connected child forms.
  • Identify and manage the impact of edits on form logic and template integrations.
