Using the ‘Other’ Option in Lists

Learn how to use the 'Other' option in lists in Smarter Drafter Pro.

The ‘Other’ toggle allows form fillers to type in a custom response when none of the predefined list options apply. This is useful when the full set of possible answers can’t be predicted.

Instructions

1. Add a field with a selectable list

  1. In the form builder, add a Radio, Select (dropdown), or Checkbox field.
  2. Go to the Options tab.
  3. Add your standard list options (e.g. Apple, Banana, Orange).

2. Enable the ‘Other’ option

  1. In the Options tab, scroll to the bottom of the list.
  2. Toggle Other to ON.
  3. A new entry will appear at the end of your list, labelled Other by default.

3. Edit the label or value (optional)

  • Click on the ‘Other’ label to rename it to something more descriptive, such as Provide details or Other (please specify). You can also adjust the value field if needed (used in logic or calculations).

4. Preview and test

  1. Click Preview.
  2. Select the ‘Other’ option in your list.
  3. A text box should appear, allowing the user to type their response.
