How to Create and Manage Option Lists
Learn how to create and manage option lists in Smarter Drafter Pro.
Option Lists allow you to present a predefined set of choices in a field — using radio buttons, dropdowns, or checkboxes. This article covers how to create a basic list, manage its layout, and use advanced controls like reordering and logic.
Instructions
1. Choose a field type that supports options
- Choose either:
- Radio
- Select (dropdown)
- Checkbox.
2. Create the Option List
- With the field selected, go to the Options tab.
- Click + New Option to add your first item.
- Enter the label (e.g. Yes, No).
- The Value will be assigned automatically (used for calculations or logic).
- Click + Add More to add additional items as needed.
3. Set the layout (optional)
- Under Layout, choose how the options will be displayed:
- Vertical: Listed top to bottom
- Horizontal: Side by side
NOTE: This is a visual preference and won’t affect logic or function.
4. Reorder or remove options
- Use the drag bar on the left to reorder items.
- To delete an item, click the rubbish bin icon next to the option.
5. Apply logic to individual options (optional)
To show or hide specific options based on earlier answers:
- Click the logic brackets {} next to the option.
- Add a condition just as you would in a field’s Logic tab.
- Save the rule.
NOTE: Applying logic to list items works exactly the same way as field or section logic. See the Apply Logic in Forms article for more detail.
Common Issues & Solutions
- Issue: Values don’t make sense or appear out of order
- Solution: Reorder the list manually, and update the value field if you’re using it for logic or calculations.
- Issue: Logic isn't hiding options
- Solution: Check the logic condition is applied to the specific list item — not the field — and that the controlling field/value is correct.
