Applying Logic to Sections and Section Blocks
Learn how to apply logic to sections and section blocks in Smarter Drafter Pro.
You can apply logic to entire sections or section blocks to control whether they are shown or hidden based on a user’s answers. This helps streamline the form-filling experience by only displaying relevant sections.
Instructions
1. Decide which section or section block to control
- Identify the part of the form that should only be displayed under specific conditions.
- Example:
- “Show the Individual Details section only if the contact type is individual.”
2. Open the form and locate the section
- In the form builder, find the section or section block you want to apply logic to.
3. Apply logic to a section
- Click on the section to open its settings panel.
- Go to the Logic tab.
- Click + Rule to add a condition.
- Choose the controlling field (e.g. Contact Type), operator (e.g. =), and value (e.g. individual).
- Save the logic.
- A logic pill will appear on the section banner to indicate that logic has been applied.
- Click the pill to view a summary of the condition.
4. Apply logic to a section block
- After importing a section block into your form, each section within the block can be configured individually.
- Click the Add Logic button on the section banner within the block.
- Set the rule(s) as needed.
- Save the logic.
Common Issues & Solutions
- Issue: The section or block is always visible
- Solution: Check that the logic condition is set correctly and is returning TRUE only when appropriate.
- Issue: Logic pills are not showing
- Solution: Ensure that logic was saved after being added. Try refreshing the form builder view.
