How to Edit an Intake Form
Learn how to edit an intake form in Smarter Drafter Pro.
Editing an Intake Form is essential for adjusting the content and ensuring that the form captures the correct data. However, there are limitations on what can be changed within an Intake Form. This guide explains what changes are allowed and how to make those edits.
Instructions
1. Open the Parent Form
- Navigate to the Forms section in your Smarter Drafter dashboard. Locate and open the published version of the parent form that is linked to the Intake Form you wish to edit.
2. Access Settings
- In the parent form’s menu, click on Settings to open the settings panel.
3. Go to Related Forms
- Within the Settings panel, click on Related Forms to access the linked Intake Form.
4. Open the Intake Form
- In the Related Forms section, find and click on the Intake Form to open the version you want to edit.
5. Make Allowed Edits
- In the Intake Form, you can make the following changes:
- Change the label of a section
- Change the label of a field
- Hide whole sections
- Set individual fields to ‘hidden’
- Modify mandatory/optional/read-only settings
- Set or change a default value for a field
- Add supporting text or instructions
IMPORTANT NOTES
- If any element of a question has been changed in the Intake Form, that question disconnects from future changes made to that specific question in the parent form. This relates to every question and every type of change.
- Changes are not apparent in the Intake Form so when changes are published in the parent form, a builder should check the Intake Form as the updates from the parent form may not have transferred. That may be the required outcome, but it’s important to check where it’s a change that is required in the Intake Form as well.
- Before changes are made to an Intake Form, possible impact on logic and conditional rules should be carefully considered and checked.
6. Save Your Changes
- After making the necessary edits, click Save to apply the changes to the Intake Form.
7. Check for Impact on Logic and Conditional Rules
- Before making edits, review any logic or conditional rules in place. Changes to the Intake Form might impact these settings, and it’s important to verify that everything is still functioning as expected after saving your edits.
Common Issues & Solutions
- Issue: Changes made in the Intake Form are not reflected in the parent form.
- Solution: Any edits made in the Intake Form will not affect the parent form. The parent form and Intake Form operate independently once the Intake Form is created, so changes must be made separately in both forms.
- Issue: The wrong fields are being modified in the Intake Form.
- Solution: Ensure that you are editing the correct version of the Intake Form linked to the parent form. Always check the version label to confirm.
