How to Set Folder-Level Permissions for Forms

Learn how to set folder-level permissions for forms in Smarter Drafter Pro.

Folder-level permissions in Smarter Drafter allow you to control access to forms and their sub-folders within a specific folder. This guide will walk you through the steps to set folder-level permissions for forms and manage who can view, edit, and delete content within the folder.

Instructions

1. Navigate to Permissions Settings

  • Go to the Settings menu in the top navigation bar.
  • Click on Permissions to open the user permission settings.

2. Select the Folder for Permission Assignment

  • In the Folder Permissions section, find the folder you wish to adjust permissions for.
  • Click on the folder to view and edit its permission settings.

3. Choose Folder-Level Permissions

  • You will see a list of available permissions for the selected folder:
    • Read: Allows users to view documents in build mode.
    • Add (folder-level only): Allows users to add new forms to the folder and its sub-folders.
    • Edit: Grants permission to edit existing documents within the folder.
    • Delete: Allows users to delete existing documents from the folder.
    • Publish: Grants permission to publish existing documents within the folder.
    • Folder Management (folder-level only): Allows users to edit, delete, and add sub-folders within the folder. This permission does not allow creating new parent folders.
  • Select the appropriate permissions for the users based on their role.

4. Apply Permissions to Sub-Folders

  • If you want the same permissions to apply to sub-folders within the selected folder, make sure the Inheritance option is enabled. This will automatically apply the same permissions to all current and new sub-folders.
  • Save Your Changes
  • After selecting the desired folder-level permissions, click the Save button at the bottom of the screen to apply your changes.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: Permissions are not inherited by sub-folders.
  • Solution: Ensure that the Inheritance option is enabled for the folder. This ensures that permissions set for the parent folder are applied to sub-folders.
