How to Avoid Losing Changes When Managing Permissions
Learn how to avoid losing changes when managing permissions in builder in Smarter Drafter Pro.
When managing user permissions in Smarter Drafter, it's crucial to ensure that your changes are saved to avoid losing any updates you've made. This guide provides steps to help you avoid losing changes while working with permissions.
Instructions
1. Access Permissions Settings
- Go to Settings in the top navigation bar.
- Select Permissions to open the permissions settings page.
2. Make Permission Changes
- Select the user or group you want to modify permissions for.
- Choose the relevant permission options (e.g., Builder Permissions, Folder-Level Permissions, etc.) and make the necessary adjustments.
- Remember to only make one set of changes at a time to avoid confusion or unintended changes.
3. Save Your Changes Regularly
- After adjusting the permissions, click the Save button at the bottom of the screen to confirm and save your updates.
- If you're making multiple changes, it’s recommended to save after each set of changes, rather than waiting until the end. This ensures that each set of changes is securely saved.
- Smarter Drafter does not automatically save changes, so manual saving is required to preserve updates.
4. Be Aware of Session Timeouts
- If you're working for an extended period, ensure that your session remains active. If your session times out, any unsaved changes will be lost.
- To avoid this, save your progress frequently or work in smaller increments.
5. Avoid Navigating Away Without Saving
- Before navigating away from the Permissions page, make sure you’ve saved all your changes.
- If you try to navigate away without saving, you’ll receive a warning, prompting you to save your changes before leaving the page.
6. Confirm Permissions Changes
- Once you have saved your changes, verify that the permissions are set as expected by reviewing the updated user settings.
- You can also ask users to confirm they have the correct permissions to ensure everything is working as intended.
Common Issues & Solutions
- Issue: Changes are lost after a session timeout.
- Solution: To prevent this, save your changes periodically, especially if you're working on multiple permissions. If your session has timed out, you will need to re-enter your changes.
- Issue: I accidentally navigated away and lost my changes.
- Solution: In this case, you will need to make your changes again. Moving forward, ensure that you save regularly or use the Save button after each change to avoid losing your work.
