How to Automatically Create Fields with Contact Mapping Applied

Learn how to automatically create fields with contact mapping applied in Smarter Drafter Pro.

In Smarter Drafter, you can automatically create fields for all contact details, with Contact Mapping applied, to save time and ensure that all relevant information is captured in your form. This article will walk you through the steps to automatically create these fields and apply the mapping to streamline your form setup process.

Instructions

1. Create a New Section

  • Start by creating a new section in your form. Add the section name, alias, and set any other properties as required. This section will hold the fields where Contact Mapping will be applied.

2. Add Fields for Contact Details

  • Create fields for the contact details you want to include in your form, such as name, address, email, and mobile number. Ensure to add aliases and set the necessary properties for each field as required.

3. Open the Contact Mapping Window

  • On the section banner, click the waffle menu. From the dropdown menu, select Map fields to contacts. This will open the Contact Mapping window, where you can map your fields to the corresponding contact details from the address book.

4. Automatically Add Mapped Fields

  • In the Contact Mapping window, click Add Mapped Fields. This will automatically create fields for all possible contact details. The mapping for each contact field will be applied automatically.

5. Apply a Reference/Label

  • When prompted, enter a reference or label to use as a description for the fields. This will help you identify and organise the fields more easily. After entering the label, click OK to confirm the mapping.

6. Review and Adjust the Fields

  • Once the fields are automatically created and mapped, you may need to adjust them. This could include:
    • Entering aliases
    • Dragging fields to reorder
    • Multi-selecting to delete unnecessary fields
    • Setting name case
    • Setting address format
    • Adjusting date format
    • Changing required, optional, or read-only settings

7. Finalise the Section

  • After reviewing and adjusting the fields, finalise the section. You can now continue building the form with the contact details already mapped and ready to use.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: Fields are missing or not automatically mapped correctly.
  • Solution: Make sure you have created all the required fields in your section before using the Add Mapped Fields option. If certain fields are still missing, check if they are available in the contact details section or create additional fields in the address book.
  • Issue: The fields are not in the correct order after mapping.
  • Solution: You can easily reorder the fields by dragging them within the section to match the desired order.
