How to Apply Contact Mapping to Fields Manually

Learn how to apply contact mapping to fields manually in Smarter Drafter Pro.

This article will guide you through the process of manually applying Contact Mapping to fields in your form. By following these steps, you can connect your form fields to specific contact details from your address book, ensuring that known data is automatically populated when the form is filled out.

Instructions

1. Create a New Section

  • Start by creating a new section in your form. Add the section name and alias, and set any other properties as required. This section will contain the fields where you will apply the Contact Mapping.

2. Create Fields for Contact Details

  • In your new section, create fields for the contact details you need, such as name, address, email, and phone number. Be sure to add aliases and set the necessary properties for each field. These fields will be linked to the corresponding contact information in the address book.

3. Open the Contact Mapping Window

  • On the section banner, click the waffle menu. From the dropdown, select Map fields to contacts. This will open the Contact Mapping window, where you can connect your form fields to contact details.

4. Map Fields Manually

  • In the Contact Mapping window, you will see a list of possible contact details from the address book. For each form field you created, select the corresponding contact field to map it manually.
  • If a matching field was created in the address book, the corresponding options will appear.
  • If no matching field exists, no options will be available for mapping.

5. Use the Guess Map Feature (Optional)

  • If you’d like, you can click on Guess Map. Smarter Drafter will automatically attempt to map the fields for you based on the field names and types. Be sure to double-check the mappings to ensure they are correct.

6. Complete the Mapping

  • Once all fields are mapped correctly, click the X in the top right corner of the Contact Mapping window to close it. Your manual contact mapping will be saved.
