How to Use Checkbox Fields with Conditional Rules

Checkbox fields allow users to select multiple options. This guide explains how to create conditional rules for checkboxes, ensuring content is tailored based on the selected options.
Instructions
1. Go to the Form
- Open the form where you want to add the conditional rule.
2. Create the Checkbox Question
- Add a checkbox question to your form, such as “Which items are included in the contract?” with options like Blinds, Dishwasher, Rangehood, etc.
3. Access the Conditional Rules Tab
- In your form editor, click Document.
- Select Conditional Rules.
4. Create a New Conditional Rule
- Click + New Conditional Rule.
- A pop-up window will appear to create the rule.
5. Set the Rule Criteria for Checkbox Fields
- Name the rule (e.g., Inclusion_Blinds).
- In the rule setup, select the checkbox field and specify the condition, such as Contains for when Blinds is selected.
6. Save the Rule
- Click Save to create the rule.
7. Repeat for Other Checkbox Options
- Create additional rules for each checkbox option, such as Inclusion_Dishwasher or Inclusion_Rangehood.
8. Apply the Conditional Rule in the Document
- Open the Word document template where you want to apply the rule.
- Highlight the relevant text, such as a list of inclusions or checkbox items.
- From the Word Add-In, select the appropriate rule and click Add.
Common Issues & Solutions
- Issue: The checkbox options aren’t appearing correctly in the document.
- Solution: Make sure to use the Contains operator for multi-select options and ensure that each individual checkbox option is correctly defined in the rule.
