How to Build Conditional Rules Based on Numerical Inputs

Learn how to build conditional rules based on numerical inputs in Smarter Drafter Pro.

Conditional rules can help you apply different content based on numeric input values. This guide walks you through creating rules for numerical fields, such as price thresholds or limits.

Instructions

1. Go to the Form

  • Open the form where you want to create the conditional rule.

2. Create the Numeric Question

  • Add a question that collects a numeric value, e.g., “What is the purchase price?”

3. Access the Conditional Rules Tab

  • In the form editor, click Document.
  • Select Conditional Rules.

4. Create a New Conditional Rule

  • Click + New Conditional Rule to open the rule creation pop-up.

5. Set the Rule Criteria for Numeric Values

  • Name the rule (e.g., Purchase_Price_Under_800K).
  • In the rule editor, select the numeric field (purchase price) and set the condition. For example, if the price is less than $800,000, add specific text to the document.

6. Save the Rule

7. Create a Rule for the Alternate Outcome

  • Repeat the process to create a rule for when the price exceeds $800,000 (e.g., Purchase_Price_Above_800K).

8. Apply the Conditional Rule to the Document

  • Highlight the relevant text in the Word document template.
  • From the Word Add-In, select the conditional rule and click Add.
  • This will apply the rule, and the content will update based on the price input.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: The rule doesn’t trigger the correct text based on the numeric input.
  • Solution: Double-check the operator used in the rule (e.g., Less than or Greater than) and ensure the correct numeric field is selected.
