How to Clone a Form, Section Block, or Section

Learn how to clone a form, section block, or section in Smarter Drafter Pro.

Cloning allows you to copy forms, section blocks, and sections to quickly replicate existing structures and features. This guide will walk you through the steps for cloning a form, section block, or section either within the same form or to a different form.

How to Clone a Form

1. Go to Forms > Build in the navigation menu.

2. Find the form you want to clone and click the ellipsis menu (three dots) next to the form name.

3. Click Clone Form from the menu.

4. In the pop-up window, give the cloned form a unique name and alias. Select the folder where the form should be saved.

5. Click Clone to create the form. The cloned form will open, ready for you to edit.

NOTE: The cloned form will be independent of the original, and any data or submissions from the original form will not carry over to the cloned form.


How to Clone a Section Block

1. Go to Build > Section Blocks.

2. Find the section block you want to clone and click the ellipsis menu (3 dots) next to the section block name.

3. Click Clone Section Block.

4. In the pop-up window, enter a unique name and alias for the new section block. Choose the relevant folder to save the cloned section block.

5. Click Clone to create the section block.

6. The new section block will open, ready for you to edit.

NOTE: The cloned section block will be independent of the original, and any associated content blocks will also be copied.

How to Clone a Section Within the Same Form

 

Locate the Section

1. Open the form that contains the section you wish to clone.

2. Click the options next to the section you want to clone.

3. Select Clone here.

4. A pop-up will appear, allowing you to adjust section/field labels. Optionally, tick the checkbox to Replace in section heading and field labels, and enter the text to replace (e.g., replace "Client" with "Solicitor").

3. Click Proceed.


How to Clone a Section Into Another Form

1. Open the form containing the section you want to clone.

2. Click the options next to the section and select Clone to another form.

3. Search the form where the section should be cloned.

4. Click on the form and choose Select.  The section will be cloned to the end of the selected form.

NOTE: You will need to manually open the new form to make further adjustments after cloning.

How to Import a Section From Another Form

1. Open the form where you want to import the section.

2. Click Import section.

3. Locate the form(s) and section(s) you want to import. 

4. Once chosen click Select.

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Issue: The cloned section doesn’t appear where expected.
  • Solution: Ensure that the section is properly cloned to the correct location in the form or destination form.
